Park Cleanup Volunteers Needed

Dear Friends of CLCCA,

The Friends of CLCCA would like to announce our first volunteer activity.  We are proposing to establish a group of volunteers who would be interested in helping us pick up litter and spread ant poison in our parks.

The current plan is to recruit enough volunteers to be able to form teams in each residential core.  Then, a different member of each team would visit the park in their core once each week.  The maintenance tasks would be to pick up litter and spread ant poison on ant hills around playground equipment and sandboxes, benches, tables, tennis courts, and side walks.  This effort will probably require 30 minutes to an hour per week.

Initially we are asking volunteers to donate ant poison for this effort.  However, once Friends of CLCCA begins collecting donations we expect to be able to furnish the ant poison to the volunteers.

If you are interested in participating in this project, please reply to the Secretary, Roger Moye at rvmoye@gmail.com and let us know of your interest and which residential core you live in.  We will collect a list of volunteers and organize the project.  There will also be an opportunity for us to discuss this project at our next monthly meeting on April 11 at 7PM at the CLCCA Rec Center Complex, room B.   We would appreciate your attendance so we can discuss this project and other ideas.

Thank you in advance!
Roger Moye
Secretary, Friends of CLCCA

Fertilizer Drive....Donate Now....Reduce Weeds and High Grass all Spring/Summer

The CLCCA maintains over 12 acres of landscaping.  The grass is often weed and ant infested.  The weeds cause mowing to be needed at a higher frequency than normal grass growth would cause.  With our continued funding issues, we are asking for resident donations for fertilizer, preferably "Bonus S."  It is our hope that this will help reduce the unattractive high weeds in the parks/entrances etc in between mows throughout the spring and summer.  Your support and help in this project is greatly appreciated.

Bags of fertilizer can be brought to our Diana location at 16511 Diana as follows:

Mon-Fri/ 8am-5pm - Office
Mon-Fri/ 5pm - 9pm - Fitness Room in the Gym
Sat/ 8am - 9pm -Fitness Room in the Gym
Sun Noon- 9pm - Fitness Room in the Gym
